Research interests
Plasma and beam diagnostics, electric propulsion, +/- ion and electron extraction from plasma, ion-beam plasma (beam-produced plasma), electron filtering, inductively coupled plasma, plasma impedance, RF matching, RF measurements and modeling, plasma processing.

Ongoing projects

Miniature
This project is aimed to develop new revolutionary electric propulsion system for small spacecrafts. This project is a logical continuation for my Marie Curie fellowship project "Neptune" (see below)

Neptune


The main idea of the Neptune project (2013-2015, individual fellowship funded by European Commission) was to simultaneously accelerate both ions and electrons from plasma by using the RF-biased gridded system. Due to self-bias effect RF voltage applied to the grids can be rectified by plasma creating averagely constant electrical field accelerating the ions. At the same time, the plasma potential oscillations allow electrons to be extracted in short moments when space charge sheath collapses. The concept is patented, first Neptune prototype is developed, and the proof-of-concept is obtained. Such system can be used in many applications : fundamental research, plasma accelerators, space propulsion, ion etching etc. The picture shows the plume of accelerated plasma (V> 40 km/s) created by the Neptune prototype.
